Buying a used excavator, loader or dozer?

Hours on the meter

The hour meter is usually on the dashboard screen in the cab. It counts engine running hours, like a car’s odometer counts kilometres.

Year built (if known)

Leave it blank if you are not sure.

PIN or serial number (optional)

Find it on the metal ID plate on the machine (often on the frame near the front, or inside the cab). If you can’t find it, leave it blank.

We cover excavators, loaders, skid steers, backhoes, dozers, graders, articulated dump trucks, telehandlers and rollers. Cranes, forklifts, work platforms and farm tractors need their own guides and are not covered yet.
